In 2016, Midea Group acquired an 80.1% stake in Toshiba’s home appliance business, with Toshiba retaining 19.9%. This strategic acquisition, valued at approximately USD 473 million, granted Midea a 40-year global license to use the Toshiba brand and access to more than 5,000 home appliance-related patents.

Through this partnership, Toshiba-branded appliances continue to be developed, manufactured, and sold worldwide, combining Japanese quality with Midea’s global innovation and scale.
